CSKA and CPKN Research Symposium: Exploring and Implementing Trauma-Informed Policing

2025-01-29

The Community Safety Knowledge Alliance (CSKA) and Canadian Police Knowledge Network (CPKN) are pleased to invite you to the CSKA and CPKN Research Symposium on February 25 to 27, 2025 in Toronto, Ontario.

This year's theme will be Exploring and Implementing Trauma-Informed Policing.

This two-day event will bring together frontline professionals and researchers dedicated to addressing the challenges and trends in trauma-informed policing. Participants will leave with actionable strategies and tools that can be implemented in their respective agencies, thereby promoting a culture of trauma-informed practice within policing.

Why Attend?

Trauma-informed policing helps to recognize the interplay between people’s lived experience and how impacts their lives.

Police are often the first person someone interacts with after a traumatic experience and ensuring they are properly trained and informed on trauma is vital to serve the community.

Beyond this, trauma-informed policing also reflects on officer wellness.

The average police officer will experience about 100 times more traumatic events in their career than the average person does in their entire life. Having knowledge about how trauma can impact behaviour and mental health can help arm services with the knowledge about how to best care for their members.

As community leaders in training and research we have designed the Research Symposium to share with members of the public safety community the most up todate, evidence-informed practices and research from across Canada and around the world.
