Author Biographies

Hai Thanh Luong, School of Global, Urban, and Social Studies, RMIT University, Australia

Dr. Hai Thanh Luong is an Honorary Principal Research Fellow at the School of Global, Urban, and Social Studies, RMIT University, Australia. His recent book to investigate transnational narcotics trafficking across the Vietnam-Laos border has published by Palgrave MacMillan (2019). Dr Hai is focusing on harm reduction in policing and health security in Vietnam.

Melissa Jardine, Board of Directors and Secretary, Global Law Enforcement and Public Health Association (GLEPHA) and Centre for Law Enforcement and Public Health (CLEPH), Australia

Dr. Melissa Jardine is an international policing consultant and is on the Board of Directors of the Global Law Enforcement & Public Health. She is also on the Board of Directors for the Australia-Vietnam Young Leadership Dialogue which aims to strengthen bilateral ties between Australia and Vietnam through nurturing young leaders to enhance people-to-people networks.

Nicholas Thomson, London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, Senior health advisor to the Australian National University’s Pacific Security College

Dr. Nicholas Thomson is a research fellow from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and a senior health advisor to the Australian National University’s Pacific Security College. He has led the expansion of training around the role of police in pandemics for the Australian Federal Police’s Regional Executive Leadership Program held annually at the Joint Centre for Law Enforcement Collaboration in Semarang, Indonesia.
